Javan Rhino : One of The Rarest Animal Species in The World
December 6th, 2009. Published under Life Savers, The Earth. No Comments.

Javan rhino (Rhinoceros sondaicus) is one of the rarest animal species in the world with an estimated population of no more than 60 individuals in Ujung Kulon National Park (TNUK), in WEST Java Indonesia and approximately 8 individuals in Cat Tien National Park, Vietnam (2000). Javan rhinoceros species also are the most endangered among five species of rhino in the world and entered the Red List of IUCN’s world conservation council, namely the category of highly endangered or critically endangered.
Rhino is believed to have been there since the Tertiary Era, (65 million years ago). Like the extinction of Dinosaurs, rhinoceros at 60 million years ago have more than 30 species and most of them have extinct. Currently, the species of rhino are only 5 remaining, of which 2 species found in Indonesia.
The Rhino species surviving are :
• Badak Sumatera (Sumatran rhino) two- horned or Dicerorhinus sumatrensis. There were at Sumatra Island (Indonesia) and Borneo (Indonesia and Malaysia).
• Javan rhino one-horned or Sondaicus rhinocerus. There were in Java (Indonesia) and Vietnam.
• Indian Rhinoceros (Indian rhino) one-horned or Rhinocerus unicornis. There were in India and Nepal.
• Black African-horned rhinoceros (Black Rhino) or Diceros bicormis. There are in Kenya, Tanzania, Cameroon, South Africa, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
• African White Rhinoceros-two horned (White Rhino) or Cerathoterium simum. There were in Congo.
Physical characteristics of the Javan rhino (Rhinocerus sondaicus) :
Javan Rhino generally have body color gray blackish. Has one horn, with a length of about 25 cm but there is probably no or very little growth at all in females. Weight of a Javan rhino can reach 900 – 2300 kg with a body length of about 2 to 4 m. The height can reach almost 1.7 m.
The Javan Rhino Skin (Rhinocerus sondaicus) have some sort of folds that look like wearing a shield of steel. Having a way similar to the Indian rhino, but the body and head were smaller, with a number of folds which also more less. The upper lip of Javan rhino is more prominent, so it can be used to grab food and put it in his mouth. The Rhinoceros was the kind of shy and solitary animal.

Think Green when You Clean
October 6th, 2009. Published under Human Being, Life Savers. No Comments.
We all want to do our part in ensuring our environment stays as safe and healthy as possible for our children and future generations to come. Many people don’t stop to think how their household cleaners can affect the environment, and how toxic they can make the immediate environment of your home. With some careful forethought, planning and effort, your home can be cleaned safely and effectively, sparing the environment, your home, family and pets from toxic chemicals and fumes.
Most people firmly believe that surfaces in their homes must be disinfected on a continual basis to prevent illness and the spread of disease. But the truth is most areas of your home don’t need to be disinfected to prevent the spread of germs. This includes your bathroom. Mild detergents, hot water, and some elbow grease can generally do the trick.
The exception to this rule is the kitchen. Anything involved in food preparation should be completely scrubbed down and disinfected with each use. This includes food preparation surfaces, utensils, cleaning clothes, and sponges.
When shopping for cleaning products, pay special attention to those with the words poison or danger on the label. These words indicate the highest level of hazard, under federal law. Products labeled with the words caution or warning can present a moderate hazard and should be regarded with care. Always read labels and follow the directions.
Never mix cleaning products, such as those containing chlorine with those containing ammonia.
Consider using products such as vinegar, baking soda, and mild detergent when cleaning your home. If you have questions about how to properly dispose of toxic household cleaning chemicals, contact your local health department or county sanitation office for advice and assistance. Most areas provide a household hazardous waste collection site for residents to properly dispose of such items.

The Dingo
The Discovery and Research Centre of Dingo established Lyn Watson at Victoria State, Australia, has been successful to reproduce of dingo until 30.
Through several DNA research, was believed that they are a native Australian dog strain which come from Asia about 5000 years ago.
Last year Watson told that Dingo was endangered in Australia. At this time, world’s behavior has been changed. Many zoo at some countries were interesting to take a part in keeping dingo alive as the pure strain species. The research center of dingo has supply some dingo babies to the zoo at New Zealand and many zoo at Japan, Brazil, US and Europe also order of dingo. Not only dingo, the feces and urine of dingo are also sold. The smell comes from feces and urine can drive away another animal that often disturb a house, like possum.
Minerva Butterfly..where we can find them..?

The new type of butterfly, Minerva Owl Butterfly, has been found at Sonora Desert, North Mexico. Their wing reaching 10 cm and was adorned by some spheres like a big eyes , this butterfly with brown-rust colored, got the name at the end of year 2007 when the right to named them was done by auction in internet.
After that insect has found by a scientist from university of Florida which is researching of the insect type from Mexico in Florida Museum of Natural History collection, the right to named of that new insect was conquered by someone from America and got present USD 40,800. The scientific named of butterfly, Opsiphanes blythekitzmillerae, is a tribute to Margery Minerva Blythe Kitzmiller that was born at Milvern, Ohio, in 1883.
The success of the auction, which is believed as the first occur as in North America, has motivated the university for doing another auction for giving name to the other butterflies . The result of the auction will increase the research fund and used to make a research about the type of Mexico Butterfly.
The Sonora Desert is one of the places in North America which is the most threatened of its sustainability and the most poorly understood its ecology. Minerva is the first owl butterfly which was named in last century.
CORAL TRIANGLE : Don’t let them destroyed
June 6th, 2009. Published under Life Savers, News, The Earth. No Comments.
I am very concern with the environment. Unfortunately, I do not have a power to act directly in keeping flora and fauna in this world can still grow well. All that I can do is spread the information, make a documents and invites the public to protect the environment around us well. Although it is a small thing but if it is done by everyone, I believe the result is something big meaning.

Currently, the hot issue is about Segitiga Koral (in Indonesia) or Coral Triangle.
Many media said that Coral Triangle on endangered at this time.
Coral Triangle is the center of the world marine life that consists of: more than 76% types of coral as former the sea reefs and 35% types of coral reef fish. The Regions within Coral Triangle itself is Indonesia, Timor Leste, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines and the Solomon Islands. If it is measured, coral Triangle is only one percent of the earth’s surface, but the area is a home for 30 percent of the coral, 76 species of coral reef-hill, and also home for more than 35 percent of coral reef fish species. Not only that, it is also a vital area for commercial important fish, like tuna.
The newest research of World Wild Fund (WWF) said that whole the coral reefs-hill can be destroyed from Pacific Ocean Coral Triangle area at the end of this century. That is also threatening the food stock and the live of about 100 million people in this earth. Studies conducted by WWF are presented in the World Ocean Conference (WOC) in Manado, Indonesia. Meanwhile, Catherin Plum, director of the Coral Triangle Program from WWF U.S said that Coral Triangle is a planet’s crown jewel which made from a variety of coral reefs.
From some research can be concluded that factor which can be a threat a existents of Coral Triangle is :
1. The increasing of : temperature of the sea water quickly, degree of acidity and sea surface
2. The increasing of pollution in the surrounding area
3. Excessive fishing
4. The weakness of human management in protecting the environment objects under the sea.
World Wild Fund said that to avoid the worst case in Coral Triangle Area is by reducing significantly of gases emissions of greenhouse and International Investment to strengthen the regional natural environment. WWF urges the world leaders to take participate helping countries in Coral Triangle Area to strengthen management of marine resources, through international action against climate change.
Let’s save the sea wealth in this earth…!!
Where We Can Find Out The Macaw?
May 23rd, 2009. Published under Life Savers. No Comments.
Macaw is the most intelligent bird in a bird world. The position of their intelligences among the birds is equal with the chimpanzee in the monkey family. Macaw is the biggest body size of cockatoo bird member and life in the United States. Most of this elegant bird life in the rain forest but there are several type which is living at Savana Desert and scrub forest.
More than a half of 16 species of Macaw threatened their life because of the illegal bird trading and the damage of their environment caused of world development. A strict quota, penalty and monitoring would help to manage of international trading of macaw and another animal which is listed in The Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora.
Both in cage or in the outdoors, Macaw have a longevity. The large type of Macaw can reach the age of 65 years. Macaw is known with their high ability in using their body as shown through the use of claw and tongue to hold and rotate the food. Some of fruits and flower that they eat contain a seed toxic that help dropped the Macaw from predator.  This bird are not affected by this toxic cause they consume a number of clay that also as a mineral supplier for them.
The sturdy Red-Green Macaw is the biggest type. His weight about 3 pounds (1.35 kg) and the length of body, from head to foot about 3 feet ( 1 meter). The Red-Green Macaw, Blue-Yellow Macaw and the red one have the most powerful bite among the birds.
I do concern about the sustainability of living creatures, especially a rare animal. They are a biodiversity that we have to protect. So, let’s avoid them from extinction.
The Quality of Habitat, Influences the Aggressively of Sumatra Tiger (Panthera Tigris Sumatrae)
May 10th, 2009. Published under Life Savers. No Comments.
Several months ago, nine people are reported killed because of Sumatra Tiger attack when they were in the forest, and this occurs only within a period of less than two months. This occurred in South Sumatra, Indonesia. This report of course is very surprising and forces us to give more concern and make a study or evaluation about its caused.
The Director of Biodiversity Conservation, Ministry of Forestry, Widodo Sukohadi, says there are may reason that triggering the aggressively of Sumatra Tiger therefore they attack human being. Some of that is declining the quality of Sumatra Tiger habitat. The quality of habitat associated with the minimal conditions necessary for the animals breed naturally. Quality of habitat that supported them were biomassa of the natural food power and the availability of a convenient land coverings.
Other opinion states that increased of Sumatra Tiger aggressively also caused by a reduction in tiger prey in nature. Deer, as one of the main tiger prey, was hunted by human for their consumption. Meanwhile, the wild pigs are also to be hunted by human because they destroyed the people’s garden. In some locations, wild pigs eat the rice, tubers and corn, even destroy the plant oil palm. Therefore, local residents and even the local government intentionally hire professional hunters to hunt wild pigs.
If we think about this more profound, the increasing of Sumatra Tiger aggressively till they attack human is caused by human being them selves.  The decreasing quality tiger habitat, in this case is the forest, one of the reason is because the damage to forests due to illegal logging, land clearing, or forest fires due to increased air temperature. Meanwhile, the reduction of tiger prey, the deer and wild pigs, also caused of human activity. Wild pigs may not be as a pest for people garden if the availability of food for wild pig is still on the optimal conditions.
If the people can maintain the nature balances, of course the nature ecosystem will be protected well, also the food chain. The case above is more make us clear that the quantity of human threat to the wild life is increase significant. Before everything is getting worst, let keep this preservation as well as possible.
Pollution along the coast of Argentina
March 17th, 2009. Published under Life Savers, The Earth. 1 Comment.
The habitat of Punta Tombo Penguin has already damage at this time, causes the climate change and pollution exposure. The number of them was getting lowest and in each year they must to work hard to be able to survive. Punta Tombo colony population shrink 22 percent since 1987, when the first census carried out. Excessive fishing and the loss of sea ice force the birds to swim 40 miles more far from their nest then 10 years ago only to find some food.
The oil pollution from offshore and oil spillage from ships also threaten them. The difficulties faced penguin from the Punta Tombo is also experienced by penguin in around the world. On going development in the beach area is not impossible to make this extinct bird.
First Aid Training for Lifeguards is a Must
March 13th, 2009. Published under Life Savers. No Comments.
Who is a lifeguard? What role does he have to portray? How necessary is the first aid training for him? You surely are familiar with the now defunct television series called Baywatch, right? You have seen those gorgeous hunks and babes who carried around their life buoys and who immediately jumped into the water to save those who are in dire need. However, being gorgeous is not a basic requirement for someone to become a lifeguard. What is very important is that he knows how to swim to the rescue of the victim and then apply the necessary first aid as a lifesaving technique. (more…)
